Pinnacle Living (Capstan Village) Lands Inc.'s successful defence in contentious real estate trial

On January 9, 2026, we represented the successful defendant project owner, Pinnacle Living (Capstan Village) Lands Inc., in a contentious trial concerning an alleged contract to pay more than C$100,000 to avoid a builders lien in the context of a major mixed-use development in Richmond, B.C. The court accepted the defendant's submissions that the alleged contract did not exist and that the defendant was not liable for a subcontractor's failure to pay its own subcontractors. The court dismissed the claim with costs to the defendant.
